Safety, Health and Environment for Construction Site Managers

Every manager needs an understanding of their safety and health responsibilities. IOSH’s globally-delivered Safety, Health and Environment for Construction Site Managers course provides essential knowledge for anyone overseeing or managing safety, health and environmental risks in construction.

To obtain the “Black – Manager” Skillcard, we offer this course to all managers, and also “Gold – Supervisor” Skillcard. This card is available for the following managerial occupations:

  • Contracts Manager
  • Commissioning Manager
  • Project Engineer
  • Project Manager
  • Quantity Surveyor
  • Service and Maintenance Manager
  • Building Services Design Engineer
  • Building Services Engineering Site Manager

Managers cards are issued to applicants who can provide evidence of having completed an appropriate Level 4 or higher qualification in an building service engineering and/or managerial occupation.​

 Plus one of the following H&S requirements:

  • CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)​
  • CITB Managers and Professionals test​
  • CCNSG ‘Safety Passport Scheme’ course​
  • IOSH ‘Managing Safely’ course ​or IOSH Safety, Health and Environment for Construction Site Managers

All applications must be accompanied by an employer endorsement which confirms that the applicant is working in a building service engineering managerial role in accordance with the managerial criteria as specified in the online application form.

This card is valid until December 2024 when the employer endorsement scheme will come to man end. Closure of industry accreditation SKILLcards

What cards are affected by the Industry Accreditation (IA) closures?

Industry requirements state that card schemes carrying the CSCS logo can only issue cards to individuals holding nationally recognised qualifications.

  • Craft and Operative IA cards issued from 23rd August 2022 will expire on 31st December 2024 
  • Supervisor and Manager IA cards issued from 1st November 2022 will expire on 31st December 2024 
  • From the 1st of June 2024, renewal applications will no longer be accepted for any IA cards 
  • Affected cardholders will receive communication to keep them up to date with the development of competence assessment route(s
